So, it occurred to me recently that I hadn’t updated my Github readme in… years. Which is fine, I guess. But I figured I’d update it now.
So, there are plenty of repos dedicated to hosting templates for readmes, plenty of videos out there too, but I stumbled upon a video of a Youtuber showing off some neat readmes from various online tools, one of which is here. I thought it looked nice enough to give it a shot.
One thing that really grabbed my attention was the unnecessary snake game that can be added to your commit history. So obviously I decided to add that :)
The short ins and outs of how it works is:
- it relies on a GHAction that does a few things. You can view that here
- it creates a separate “output” branch which holds the images for the snake
- that’s basically it
It’s not something that’s necessary at all, but it made me smile so I added it lol
